Because I seriously haven't been up to much these days XD;.
I didn't write much because I didn't find a beta for my new fic yet >_<. Seems my AFF Forums account has been deleted and I'm too lazy to register again. Maybe I'll do it once I hit Montreal, seems weird to go on adult sites here O_o;. Anyways, maybe I'll try writing some more, I've came up with good ideas so far, but I kinda wanted to wait till my first chapter was beta'ed. So yeah, I'll write the 2nd chappie I think.
Been playing Pokemon DP a lot too, almost done with the game, if only my setup would be enough to beat the 7th gym leader... damn me for loving grass and water types over fire ones... now that I need a fiew Pokemon I only have a lv36 Ponyta with Ember as the only fire move. Leveling up that horse is long too [ Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<_<...>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.] Because I seriously haven't been up to much these days XD;.

Today I've gone out around Shinjuku again, I can't believe we walked for 45 minutes without finding a goddamned Starbucks while we saw like 4 earlier... then we found one near the station XD. I bought the new Robin Cook book, entitled Crisis, sounds great so far, and I'll admit I like the his English writing better than the French translations. More crude XD. Bet they censor it in French.
Oh I went to the Kabuki the other day, that was great o_o. Plus I knew the actual story of which they took the play from... Genji Monogatari ^^. Lasted about an hour, I understood a PART of it. I was accompagnied by a kabuki actor, Kawano-san, a man probably in his late 50's or so. Nice guy ^^. Speaks good English too. I love their costumes so much *_*... and the music... oh gods it was good. I actually wanna go back, and might do so given it was only 6 bucks for me to enter XD. I had hear 10 bucks from shachou, then Kawano-san told me 7, and they had a dollar reduction for students, for a big total of 600 yen (bit less than 6 bucks) XD.
And I found my CD today ^______^. I was searching for the Survive Style 5+ OST, found it. 30 bucks. Last one too >_>. Haven't listened to it yet, I wanted to put it on MP3 and mix it up with my current playlist, but I'd have to restart my computer then wait for it to convert it, so yeah, gonna wait till later.
And yep... sounds like all for now XD.

Back to Tokyo!
Whew, well those 3 weeks were quite the best trip of my life... actually my 4th trip ever >_>;;;. Now I'm back in my room in Tokyo, where I feel pretty much more at home, more than while I was constantly moving. Since I had no net at all at Kobe, I went out a lot and did a buncha things I could start naming right now, but won't too much since it was really huge XD;;.
After Onomichi, I've gone to Nara, Kyoto twice, and finally took a break. I wouldn't have taken one but Sebastian fell sick during the last 2 days so I took a break as well, partially to avoid the same fate >_>;;. So he's stuck with a tonsilitis (which I won't get, no tonsils no more o.o XD;;;...) while I'm exhausted by the goddamn heat and humidity. It's currently raining in Tokyo, but they have a good reason; tsuyo (rain season x.x). So yep... the AC's on and the temperature is lowering a bit, 25 celcius at the moment, but I want it down to 22 or something >_>.
I've taken a LOT of pictures of my trip, and I won't bother renaming them like I did previously... taking too long. I'll just upload in separate batches on PhotoBucket. The only place I don't have many pictures is Kyoto, but I was too tired of taking pictures there. Plus that 2-hour bus right was a killer XD;;;.
Well, let's sum those 6 days up. Nara was fun, but we were exhausted because of the extreme humidity. Wasn't much the heat as it was it, to be honest >_>. It rained a bit, but we didn't bother in using our umbrellas – that's probably where Seb caught his tonsilitis, poor guy x.x. I feel bad for him x.x;;;. Not easy having this [ Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<_<...>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.] Back to Tokyo!

It rained a bit, but we didn't bother in using our umbrellas – that's probably where Seb caught his tonsilitis, poor guy x.x. I feel bad for him x.x;;;. Not easy having this <_<... and it's a good thing I went through the pain of getting 'em out. So in Nara we went around some temples, then through more temples... and more temples... before reaching Nara Kouen (Nara park) before seeing MORE shrines x.x;;.
In Kyoto we went to Kita-something-or-other-Tennou-Ji. It took nearly 2 hours on feet to get there, while we were constatly around buses that went there. Well, it gave us a nice tour on the city on foot, before we reached the shrine, visiting around, then grabbing a bus to go back to the station... the bus stopped at EVERY DAMN STOP and it took nearly 2 more hours O_O;;... but THAT gave us quite the tour around Kyoto. I'd have liked to go to the ancient imperial palace and the Ginkakuji, but we didn't have time. We went to eat ramen and I went back home after.
The next day, we went back in Kyoto. This time we went (guess where!)... to a temple (YES!) named the Enryaku-ji, which is THE largest Buddhist temple of Japan, if I'm not mistaken (too lazy to get the pamphlet out, sorry people XD;;;) with Seb's Akita host father, Maekawa-san. We stood there a good 2 hours, the first one being a traditional, daily ceremony with the actual Buddah, and we ate there. They are strict vegetarian, and everyone had the same meal... and god it was good *_*. After the temple, we went to Mount Hiei, walked there for another hour before heading to ANOTHER temple, where the man from earlier had apparently graduated or something (we got lost in the translation, no pun intended XD;;...), then went BACK to Enryaku-ji to say good-bye. From there we walked to the station and we had a maccha frappucinno from Starbuck's (heh, no Second Cup, I have to get my fix o'that somehow) and we went back to our homes.
We had the next day planned for Himeji-jou (Himeji castle) but it was canceled since Seb got sick. On my part, I just relaxed around the house, slept a lot more than usual (had gone to my room at 8:30-ish, slept from 10:30pm to 4:30am, fell asleep at 5:30am, slept until 7am; went back to sleep from 10:30am to noon; wrote an entire chapter of a new Death Note fanfic before taking a nap from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, had my dinner, and went back to my room at 9 XD;;;....). And today, well I had to take the Shinkansen at 2:35 at Kyoto, but I got there at 1-ish. Took my time, as I wanted to get a bento before boarding, didn't find any; instead I wound up at the Starbucks', grabbed my lunch there, ate it and went to the station... THEN I found the bento >_>. Didn't buy 'em, but I bought some candies I might eat myself or give to my hosts, haven't figured it out yet XD;;. I met up with Seb, who was feeling better ^^, then we boarded and went straight to Tokyo. From Tokyo station, went to Ikebukuro, then to Toshimaen, and walked all the way here. We were invited to a party but we declined, exhausted as fuck and Seb is going to meet up with Shunpei anyways, while I'm not even going to bother eating... so now I'm about to go with him up to Nerima, on my bike (because I'm NOT walking anymore XD:;;).
-
Oh and by the way... anyone reading the Death Note manga? I'd need a beta-reader >_>;;;... I'll go check aff.net forums tomorrow, but I wanna check with my flist first XD;;. It's been a long time since I wrote seriously and I'm really into this one, so just drop me a line if someone's willing to beta some yaoi ^^. I'd really appreciate it ^^.

Host Family #3 – Old lady
Days are summarized to a certain minimum, as I have had no internet access since I left Shoganji temple. But... you know me, I can't be satisfied with short posts... XD.
Day 1
Left the temple at 7-ish, after getting up at 6:20 but been awake since 5:45 o.o. Ceremony was early this morning, and actually I've never been to one. Just that the bell is LOUD... and sometimes you can hear him chant. This I actually like. I heard him sing once (not in the ceremoy) and he's got a very nice voice XD. Seb got at the station maybe 5 minutes after me, and we left at 7:22, as planned. Switched trains a few times and he eventually got off earlier than me. Had so many laughs in the train... if there's a downside to originally speaking French in a Japanese environment, there's also a good side to it; can talk about whatever we want, no one understands ^^. I told him I was writing fanfiction (he knows what it is! XD) about Death Note, and as we talked about plots (one implying L hiding under Light's bed and trying to scare him with a "BOO"... XD;;...) he came up with one of the best quotes ever... I'm sure I laughed at it for a good 5 minutes. "It could be romantic... it just needs a whip or two." Still laughing really... XD XD. It was actually funnier in French because of the accent he took to say it... pretty much of an inside joke. I could explain it but it'd be hard >_>.
And that's what I like about having a friend around; if I can't find something, he does, and vice-versa. So I was on my own to get to Kobe x.x. It didn't go that bad, and I'm thankful I'm "fluent enough" in Japanese to ask for directions 'cause I got lost (well duh... we're talking about ME... I get lost in my own mind, go me! XD;;;...) and missed the express train; had to take the local 2 minutes later. I missed the express by 3 seconds; I was pissed off and scared that the trains bound for my destination ran only a few times a day... I think I should read my sheets more – from the station I had gotten lost, I wasn't taking a Shinkansen but a normal train... >_>. I'm stupid.
Anyways, I got at Kobe (my exact location is Ashiya, near the Kounan-Yamate) 15 minutes later than I should have been. I called the lady, Reiko Yamaguchi, who was supposed to give me directions to her house; I had expected going on foot, but she has a car so she picked me up (it was raining pretty bad). We stayed a bit at her house, she showed me around... my room is nice. 2 single beds XD. I put my computer and other stuff on it, and I sleep on the other ^^.
Once done, we headed for a car drive. The neighborhood is rather quiet, she says, and it seems as well. It's very close to the main road though, so I hear cars all day when I'm in my room, and at night it's the trucks. Nonetheless I can sleep very well. Just that I woke up at 5:45 again, after going to bed at 9:30 and falling asleep at roughly 11:30 after watching a few episodes of Family Guy. I wanted to go back to sleep but never was able to do so too much, and got up at 6:45 to get breakfast. I helped her around, cooked as well, then ate and washed the dishes. Studied a good 2 hours after before I decided to type this, then write. I wrote a lot... maybe 2,500 words... *checks* 2,700 actually XD. I started at maybe 1:30pm... next time I rose my head it was about 4:30 O_o. I went to take a glass of water, then went back to writing.
After writing, I went for supper; sukiyaki ^^. It was very good... she says she's not a good cook, but wow, she's very good XD. I talked with her until 9pm, went to take a shower, then went to bed at 9:30... by 11 I was asleep.
-
Today was... incredible. We went to Onomichi - I'm currently updating from the hotel's internet - and we met up with like 10 students from Onomichi. It was GREAT, probably the best day so far since I got in Japan. Maybe because we were with people our age XD. There were 3 hot guys too! Rest were girls. And I think I've got a crush on one of the three guys x.x. He's hot, but he's great too! We talked a lot, we sang together, we did origami (and tried to remember how a plane was made XD, basic stuff but none of us could remember, was funny XD) and well, I had the feeling he was hitting on me ^^;;;. It was good though ^_____^. Ryo. ^____^ Been some time since I had a crush on someone... but I didn't dare asking him for anything x.x;;;. I'm too shy. I have his email so if stuff developps, which I hope but won't be surprised if not, I'll figure something out. Made me hyper as hell ^____^. He even walked us to the hotel and explained me stuff, as obvious as they were XD. I found him great. And his English is good. He also studies Chinese ^^.
I took a lot of pictures, like 70-ish, but my camera batteries are dead so.... that's gonna have to wait, sadly. Piccies will accumulate for 6 more days, counting today >_>;;;.
I'll stop it there, since I have net access I'm gonna log on GW and makre sure everything's okay XD.

I'M ALIVE!! I think XD. Yes, I am. And I'm (OMG) back at writing. Or so I seem. Fanfics too, something I haven't written for a LONG time. Actually I have plots for 4 Death Notes fics O_o;... GO ME! ^_____^ I'm atcually happy to be able to WRITE again, as it takes a lot of my free time and I hate not doing anything when I have free time. I guess I'm one of those that doesn't like to "relax" so to speak, I can't seem to be able to stand there doing nothing.
It all started because I had some ideas in my head as I read Death Note (of which I just got done with 4, maybe 3 pages within the 5th one), but I didn't wanna read more to make it last longer. So I wanted to play my DS but my battery's dead, and given I only have 2 power outlets I have to sacrifice something... and like hell I'm gonna sacrifice my computer and my hard drive. So I settled for some writing, and it's good to be back at it. I just hope I can keep it going on >_>. AS long as I have interest in what I'm writing, and as long as I'm "unhappy" with the way Death Note goes for the romantice part XD (Death to Misa!!! >_<).
Well I'm gonna stop it there to avoid repeating the whole entry of "Oh I'm bored and can't do much about it" aside my writing, Death Note and Simpsons keeping me alive. Long live computers!! My laptop is my best friend here XD;;... as sad as it sounds, since Seb's with his own family and I didn't wanna bother him, so I didn't contact him just to say "BOOOOOOORED" XD.
Yet I'm slightly amused... probably because I know they're gonna make a movie about L ^_____^.
Yes... Death Note is probably my new obsession, although I feel some kinda rekindling (?) with Onimusha... o.o
*stops there* XD

Today went much better. Woke up at 6am, barely fell asleep as I knew I had to get up at like 6:40 anyways. 20 minutes is more than enough for me to prepare to get ready to get up to eat... so I might cut it to 15 minutes XD. Just so I can sleep some more.
Breakfast was good, as usual... egg and toast. Then I was told the host mother's sister would take us around Akita again ^^. Seb got hyere at like 9:10, and by 9:20 we were gone. The grandmother tagged along too. We went to a few places, namely a farm where we ate Japanese sausage and home-made ice cream (it was goooooood). We also took a few pictures of pets and animals around, and bought gifts for the family.
After the farm, we headed for a planetarium lost in the middle of nowhere (and it really is) only to find out IT WAS CLOSED. Damn >_<. So we left and tried to find an area to eat. We settled for tonkatsu, and she paid for us... and we had table d'hotes (which is about 20 bucks per person... ouch x.x).
When the meal was over, she took us to a few shrines around. One is a famous one within the world, as one of the biggest statues of Buddah is located there. And it's BIG. Very big. We took pictures, they prayed a bit, then we left for another, this one for kids' protection or something along the lines. It was nice, but less big. More people too.
So once this was done, we headed back for Iwaki... which has a 3,000 population, just so you know. It's small XD. Even MI is bigger with its 12,000 people. We went shopping... I was looking for a second GW account but couldn't find PC games, so I bought 3 Death Note mangas (4,5 and 6). I'm buying the whole thing before leaving Japan, that's for sure. I'm already 1/3 into the 4th one (it's so good... need... slash... *drools*). I can only hope something more than "friendship" is gonna happen between L and Light... hope... they look so hot together...
And after the shopping, we went to a Quebec (YES! QUEBEC!) restaurant to see what they had... which isn't much. Mostly Japanese food. Anyways, the important part is that it was created by Iwaki-sensei! ^^. We bought plum sherbert from one of the stores, and headed for the beach to relax a bit before going back home. GOD IT'S GOOD, NEED MORE NOW. Actually I'll take anything with a plum taste XD.
We headed back home, and on our way went to Seb's host family to drop him there. Then we came back, I rested a bit before eating (omelette and rice... dunno what the hell they put in it aside carrots but I need this recipe so damn bad!) and then... updated this ^^. Then it's shower and bed for me.
Just a few days left here... 3 not counting today... time flies by x.x.

Slow day here. Didn't do much, really. Stayed the most time in my room since I was feeling kinda weird. WEll first of all, it was my dad's b-day today and it always kinda saddens me. Second, my host mother started on how I was fat and needed a diet -_-. I seriously didn't take it, and didn't reply to any of what she said. I don't think she wanted to sound mean or anything (yet in English it sounded so... in Japanese, would have been less bad I think, they have a way with words and their English is basic... "big" is basic, yet hurtful when said to someone else...), but I wasn't in the mood for comments on my weight today. She had done it before and I didn't even bother caring... guessing the whole dad b-day thing affected me more than I thought. So I went to my room、slept in some more, went to have lunch, went back to my room, studied kanji a bit before playing on Nintendogs. At 5:30 I was called for dinner, unusual since dinner is at 7pm O_o. Oh well. Was good. Curry rice ^^.
Aside that, well, not much. The aunt came over, and went in my quarters (that's probably what I should call them, I have the area to myself XD) to say good-bye and to say she'd see me again tomorrow. Somewhere, that makes me feel appreciated ^^. We had talked a bit previously as well.
I don't miss Montreal, but I miss the freedom of doing whatever I want without anyone around me. I'm pretty much of a loner when I'm not around with my friends and without the possibility to make new ones (where the fuck are the young people around?! All I've met so far are old people... kinda saddens me since I thought I'd be able to make friends of my age). I'm tired of going to bed after taking my shower, of not being able to connect on the net whenever I want, not to be able to talk on the phone or MSN with my buddies (yes, my social life during summer holidays is on the net, I'm constansly away from my friends x.x)... that kinda stuff. Of not being able to order from the restaurant when I'm craving Chinese like now. I enjoy my trip so far, however... when I don't feel like I have to stay indoors because there's nowhere to go HERE. I hope it's gonna change in Kobe... but I highly doubt so since I'll be with similar people -_-. At least I'll be in a CITY with the possibility of WALKING around... here I can't even do that - no sidewalks and the cars go damn fast. In Montreal, even though I don't go out THAT much, I have the POSSIBILITY of doing so... well I do go out to get food and just walk around, or go downtown... you get the idea x.x I get bored here. I'm in Japoan and I can't even explore.
Well I'll cut it here for now, gonna continue checking my emails and such.

| Day... something, too lazy to check. |
[08 Jun 2007|09:10pm] |
|
Today was... how to put it... extremely wonderful? ^^
First of all, woke up at 6am to the sound of bells and drums – there was a ceremony not too far from my room. It wasn't so bad, but for the first 2 minutes I was "what the hell..." I fell asleep again, and woke up at 6:30 with my watch's alarm... then again at 6:40 with my DS XD. I'll stick with the DS next time, I'm fine with 20 minutes before grabbing breakfast.
So after eating breakfast, Seb's host father took us on a LONG, but very, very interesting tour of the Akita region. And when I thought Iwaki-machi was remote, we found even more remote areas XD. But first, we went to buy some plants before going to quite... expensive... store >_>. Ok, quite isn't enough. Fucking expensive is more it O_o. He had to buy a suit... hand-made suit. And these are expensive. He chose a 500-bucks material too O_o. The place was ultra-chic... x.x. Kinda felt bad since I was in jeans and t-shirt XD;;;. But they didn't mind and served us one of the best tea, along with Oosaka sweets.
Then... more road. More, more roadé Our first stop^was an aquarium ^^. We spent around 45 minutes in there. We found Nemo XD. We took a lot of pictures... I think by then I had like 30 pictures left on my 150-piccie camera >_>.
After the aquarium, more road again. We stopped to eat at a restaurant, with sashimi... octopus and... something else *_*... oh man it was good. Then... you guess it. More road.
We also stopped at one of the host father's sister's friends in a ery remote village that kinda reminded me of MI, yet way smaller. Probably because of the port O_o. The family seemed nice and invited us in, but we politely explained that we couldn't and therefore had to keep moving on.
More road... beautiful landscapes... we reached a small shrine-like place that was dedicated to one of Akita's biggest folk tales; Namahage. Those demons are told to bring lazy disobediant people to the mountains for their community, within the mountains. They have a museum dedicated to them, as well as a short little play about what happens the night they come in houses. It was nice ^^.
After some more driving, we went to a "sky park". Apparently he wanted us to go handgliding (!!!!!!) but they weren't running today, so we settled for the tower itself. Inside was a museum, about Akita and the Namahage as well, so we didn't chek it much. We went to the top and looked around... didn't take any pics, the windows were pretty dirty. Yet it was cool.
Then we headed back home... and here I am. What I did today doesn't sound like much, but it was actually amazing. Just hard not to say it with words... so I'll upload pics some time, since my net access sucks and I've taken A LOT of pictures... and some videos. Too bad I have no sound.
Right now I'm in my room, watching Simpsons. Soon I'm gonna take a shower ^^.

Host Family #2 – The Fujiwaras (classic name... XD)
Reaching my new place was't so hard XD. Shinkansen for a while... nearly 12 hours >_>. Nearly. Maybe 11 hours. Wasn't so bad as well, and not as expensive considering I had bought a bento before going XD. What I bought for 5 bucks at the station, I'd have paid double or so for the same inside >_>. Still have some tea left too XD. Ride was smooth, no problems except the one for the seat reservations; since they can't be made on board, we have to move around at times, or find cars without seat reservations. I didn't sleep much in the train; had slept more at Akiko's this time XD. A good 5 hours, and I was ready for my day.
Left Akiko's place at 6:20-ish, since our first train was for 6:42am x.x;;. I didn't wanna leave! X_X. But I had to anyways >_<;;... more adventures await XD.
We got at the Iwaki-Minato (Iwaki Port) at 5pm, while our families thought we only arrived at 6pm o_o;;. So Seb's host father took us to the temple where I stay, but we made a short stop at a "supermarket"... if it can be called "super". This place is smaller than Jalco's (where my mom works) and Jalco is small o_o;. Yet they have some decent stuff, didn't check the prices.
When we reached the temple, there was no one. My host mother had gone somewhere, no idea where, she didn't mention and I didn't ask.
The Fujiwara family is made of 5 people; the father, the mother, her mother, older sister and the daughter. I got confused on who has the daughter, O_o;;... but yeah. They're very nice with me, and are aware I'm not Japanese and can make mistakes... and that despite I've been studying it for 3 years, I didn't have much practice and therefore I'm not THAT good, especially at speaking, but I understand well. For that, I'm quite surprised. Some of Iwaki program's other families weren't that understanding, that I'm aware of >_>. Seb told me that last year, one student had to leave her house and stay at a hotel because she wasn't going along at all with her homestay family, and another had temporary problems that adjusted... if I remember well.
And when I say I live in a temple... I live in a temple. Literally. This place is wonderful O_O. From my traditional Japanese bedroom (and I DO mean traditional, only with electricity XD) I can hear crickets and frogs... although yesterday the only thing I heard was the thunder XD;;. Rained here all day apparently. I'll take pictures of my room once my batteries are charged. There's calligraphy on the walls, scrolling doors made of wood and rice paper, tatamis, training weapons in a corner, and I sleep on a real futon ^^. Some people I had spoken to said it wasn't very comfortable, but so far I have no troubles sleeping on it, and I find it very comfy ^^. Only thing I don't like so far is that I have little, very little access to the internet: there's a LAN network but it's protected by a WEP key and only the other laptop has it, no one can find the router's admin username and password, therefore I can't access the WEP key... and I don't feel like wasting 3 hours to hack the network x.x. So I have to wait till the daughter comes home and let me use her computer to update stuff and send emails. Which means I'm outta MSN and GW for 6 more days.
I'm amused by the fact I live in a temple XD. I always wanted to go to one from real close (and went twice) but this is different than I imagined. It's a rather big Shinto shrine, and the father is the monk I guess... I have no idea on this. He was dressed in a grey-ish, simple, ample silk(?) suit yesterday, hair shaved. Yeah I'm guessing he's the monk of this temple. I didn't check around yet, but I plan to do so soon. I wanna go out anyways, last thing I wanna appear as is an otaku (Seb's last host mother had a problem with an otaku apparently >_>;;;...). Plus it seems warm XD.
One thing that kinda bothers me (kinda, it's not so bad) is the fact they don't speak any English. I mean, they know some words and such, but that's all. Even the Silver Villa's residents speak more English than they do O_o;;;. even their daughter, which is what.. maybe 30 years old... doesn't speak English O_o. But then again, I'm in a remote region (remote to Japanese people, so I'm VERY remote to you Americans and Europeans) in the middle of the countryside... pretty much like M.I. I think. Just that the people of my generation actually speak English >_>.
I ate cold egg (this time it was good! Usually I really don't like those) and what I guess is edamame for breakfast, along with marvellous strawberries and a toast. Lunch was cold ramen, ham and cucumber with tempura (might have been potato tempura O_o, was good XD). Supper was fish roasted with ginger, rice, miso soup with tofu and mushrooms, with a delicious egg, mayonaise, cucumber, mayonaise and... watch this... ORANGES... I need this recipe so bad >.>
I figured out why they secured the Internet. The way their ISP works, they're charged by the hour; they don't have a fixed fare... x.x. So yeah, now I know I won't be able to go on MSN and GW at all. Grrrr. Oh well, I'll still update this XD. Since I type everything before (or well, most of), my net needs are usually short.
So that's it so far ^^. Tomorrow we're going somewhere with Seb's host family, as far as where I really don't remember, but I know it involves car driving o.o.

| Ebetsu - Day 3 and 4 |
[07 Jun 2007|08:40pm] |
|
Today was a relaxing day XD. I didn't do much beside playing with Ai, considering Akiko had an English lesson followed by giving an English lessons to 2 kids from the neighborhood. But before the lessons, Ai, her friend Zahara - a tomboy-ish Algerian girl who grew up in Japan XD – and I went to a park close to their school. There were a lot of kids, maybe 15, 20-ish around, and there were more inside the what I guess is the community center (I didn't check for signs). I wish I had taken my camera ._. ... was a pretty place and the kids were too cute x.x.
Oh yeah, we also went to a 100-yen store (1-dollar store XD) and to another book-off. I couldn't find DN4 and such, and didn't find much BL either >_<... and neither could I find my Survive Style 5+ OST *growls*. I'm gonna keep checking for all of that. I was tempted to buy a Wii – they're what, 250 bucks and apparently it's cheap, or so said Akiko. But I didn't have the money on me and that's technically not included in my expenses >_>... guess I'll have to wait till my b-day next year or Christmas, or when I go back in Montreal. Anyways I don't have any place to put it since I've only came with my computer bag O_o;... oh well XD. I'll see what happens when I go back to Tokyo.
After spending time in the park, I assisted Akiko in the English lesson she was giving to kids. Zahara was one of them, and the other was Asaka, another of Ai's friends. Today's lesson was about some actions (crawling, hitting a ball, jumping, etc) as well as phonetics and some alphabet learning.
For supper we had croquettes, Japanese-style – mashed potatoes and other ingredients dipped in eggs and breaded crumbs *drools*. At first I found it weird, since our "croquettes", in Quebec, are chicken nuggets... but I'm starting to like Japan's version better XD. Oh gods am I gonna miss homemade Japanese cooking when I go back in Montreal. I thought what they served us in restaurants was good, but what Akiko makes is even better *_*. I hope my next family's gonna be like that too XD.
When supper was done, I went to take a nap. For some reason I was really tired, so I slept from 6pm to 7:30-ish, before going down and settling in for some TV. I went to check emails and realized GW was installed on their computer, so I played some. Akiko needed the comp in the middle of my Tombs run, so I had to let her use it... I had minimized it but she turned the comp off, and therefore I didn't get disconnected so to speak, and had to log back on to apologize to my buddies x.x.
Before I actually went to sleep, I've played some on Nintendogs.... which reminded me that I should have installed The Sims (XD, I've actually typed "Rims" then "Tims"... sorry just found that funny >_>). I could have downloaded some skins... probably Death Note. I gave up on waiting to read it in the Shinkansen and actually started to read the 3rd XD;;.. bad Chibi.
Day 4
Today was just great ^____^. Got up at 10:10 or something, then I had cereal for breakfast. Ai was gone to school when I got up, so Akiko and I were alone. We talked a bit about what we'd do during the day, and we went to a lunch party organized by host mothers. Most of them didn't have students yet, so Seb and I were the only ones. We met a lot of people ^^. The food was very, very very good *_*. Can't recall everything, but there were takoyaki (dough balls with SQUIDS! ^____^), bread, a fruit salad/punch (Akiko made this one) and a plate of pineapple and kiwi, with ham/aspargus *drools more*. We also had to introduce ourselves, well that went rather well. One of the women there spoke French (Seb's host mother) and another was from Germany who has been staying in Japan for 15 years! I wanna be like that! >_>...
When the lunch was done, we headed to Ai's school to pick her up, because we were going to a ceramic center ^^. Akiko and I chose to decorate cups, and Ai chose to do the same with a plate. Pictures available XD. It was my first time, and actually, we shouldn't have been able to go >_>. Why? 'Cause the center was closed to the public today >_>;;;. Actually, Akiko did about everything to let the director open it for us, since you have to reserve before, and groups of 3 aren't usually enough. But after she told him I was a student from Canada and all that such, they let us come! ^___^.
We came back, I played with Ai for a while (we exchanged DS and games) and then ate chicken/pasta gratin, some kinda meat/pepper/other legume I couldn't figure out, and rice. So good *_*. Then... then I made preps for tomorrow, since I have to leave FOR 6am... I DON'T WANNA GO! ;_;. I love this place so much... I guess everything good has an end -_-. So I can only hope my next family is good like the one I have right now.
From now, I,ll be gone 8 days, and once again I dunno when I'll have access to the net. Akiko told me about 90% below the age of 70 of Japan had a comp with Internet, but I can't remember which family I'm in next, if it's the one with the old folks or another family... ;_;. So I might be off the net for a while, we'll see again.
Only thing I regret so far is bringing more... expensive gifts -_-;;;... have no idea on how a 40-dollar book can do justice to what I've been given – a chance to explore around, to meet new people, to actually LIVE Japan for 4 days here. It's already a great experience to be in Japan, now I travel around for FREE and I have people who actually take me into their homes and do stuff with me... I find it great, and you bet my teachers back in Montreal will recieve many, many thanks for this (and my homestay families!), because it made me realize that I am in the right place in Japanese studies. I'm good at it, that's one thing I can be proud of, and I make efforts to keep this going. I realize I'm very lucky to be here tonight... and right now, this trip is totally worth it. Maybe I'll tell a different story with my other homestay families, but so far, being without a regular net access and being away from my family and friends is TOTALLY worth it. And since it's one experience in a lifetime, I have to make the most of it.
With this, I'm gonna go to bed, since tomorrow I have to get up uber early x.x. Next stop: Iwaki-machi in Akita, the town where shachou's ancestors come from. Apparently they don't speak English much in Akita, so I can only hope they think my Japanese is good enough so I can AT LEAST be understood x____x;;;... wish me luck!

Host Family #1 – single mother and child
This place ROCKS, that's about all I can say so far ^^. My host mother is named Akiko Kyouzuka, she's 35-ish and is a single mother of a 9-year-old oh-so-adorable (seriously!) girl named Ai (check the pic, OMG she's just too cute *cute overload*). I've just been here for a few hours and it's obvious she really cares for that child... she spends time with her, sings songs, watches TV... apparently they have a great life. Akiko is a part-timeEnglish teacher, part-time manucure (her English is VERY good) and her boyfriend is Australian – Ai understands English but is shy when it comes to speak it (which is the same with most Japanese people anyways). She made sushi (very good *_*) and some kinda potato/onion/chicken chowder... delicious.. *_*... then we watched some TV before Ai fell asleep and we all headed to bed – except me who's "up" (in my -huge- room) and currently typing this XD. I have this whole playroom/bedroom to myself, it's pretty big and it smells really nice ^^. My bed is uber-comfy too XD. I only have a small pillow, but what the heck, IT'S COMFY *_*.
Anyways, let's go back in time... a time where I had to fucking get up at 5:20am after sleeping for maybe an hour, even though I went to bed near midnight. I was really tired but I couldn't sleep at all, and me being ultra-nervous yet excited about my new host family and the fear of forgetting something... not a good mix. I believe I got everything I wanted anyways. I only packed like 5 t-shirts and 2 pair of pants, including jeans, which I'm afraid I won't wear. They say it's cold here, but it's not really. Pretty much Montreal weather, so warmer than in Madgalen Islands, and in MI I'd already be in shorts.
The Shinkansen (bullet train, for those who don't know) isn't really what I thought it was. First of all, I thought they were air-cushion trains like in Europe, and nope O_o. Good ol' reg trains with wheels and rails. Goes faster than reg trains, but I was hoping they would go faster >_>. The scenery was beautiful, but I slept through maybe 2 or 3 hours of it... which made my 12-hour trip seemingly shorter XD. We had to switch trains a few times, 3 times I believe, and everytime went just fine. We were afraid that because we hadn't reserved seats (as we should have had for 2 trains -_-) we'd be paying extra or something... and not at all O_o;;;. The guy who checked our tickets just told us to move seats since the first ones were reserved (he sent us to non-reserved seats with a big smile, as if everything was just normal o.o), and for another train there were 2 wagons especially for non-reserved seats. Only the first train was almost full, rest were borderline dead.
Which reminds me of something... if you ever plan to get a JR pass, don't do like us, and GET IT EXCHANGED FASTER. JR office at Shinjuku, where you can exchange it (View Plaza, south exit of Shinjuku if I remember well) closes at 7pm. We entered the office at 6:52. AND WE GOT OUR PASS! ^^;;;;... Also keep in mind something very, very important else you'll be unpleasently surprised – DON'T USE IT BEFORE THE DATE YOU INTENDED TO USE IT. Seriously. The fees for the Shinkansen are already high, so if you don't wanna pay more 'cause of whatever reason, gods, set yourself a date and use it ONLY from there >_>. Then you have unlimited use of any JR mass transit system for 3 weeks ^^. It's worth 575 CND bucks too...
Shinkansen trains are... huge o.o. Anyways, there's a lot of space for your legs, unlike in a plane or a reg train. Food and drinks are expensive as hell so if possible, bring some from other places, such as the within the station's (pretty cheap for most). A simple bento containing 5 inari sushi cost me 9.50 CND... of which I ate half since I didn't trust most of the ingredients. On the other hand, I'm getting used to the huge caviar O_o...
About Seb's homestay family, the only thing I know is that the mother is almost paranoiac, as far as Akiko told me >_>. She had a talk with her while I was in the shower, and apparently she didn't even want Seb to come with us to wherever place we'll go because she was scared for him, since she didn't know I was a good friend of his. Duh. I'm not a danger to Seb and he surely isn't for me XD. Kinda weird not being with him right now O_o;;;... but I'll get used to it. For 4 days XD. Not even since our mothers are planning stuff. I'll admit I DO feel safe with him, since he's male... (ok, when the fuck did I became scared of some area -_-. Japan has a really low crime rate too...)
Talking about males, Death Note L's is hot... he looks so damn innocent *_*... all cute and such *cuddles!* I grin a lot whenever I read that manga. I really like the way they make him sound – or well, loook – weird with his big eyes, ruffled hair, the way he sits. Somewhere, I think they made him autist or something – but a light form or something O_o. But that's what I like about him. So I wanna finish reading DN2 so I can read the third one, but it's so good that I don't want it to end so I take all the time I can x.x.
Time for me to watch some Simpsons before heading to bed, maybe drooling some over L- erm... reading a bit XD;;;.
Day 2
Today we went to Sapporo, visiting around. First of all, we went to Odoori Kouen, which is a rather big – well long XD – park. It's basically within the street... technically it is separated by a street O_o (Odoori = street, respectfull – Kouen = park; tells everything, no? XD). It's pretty, and hot, and there's a lot of people ^^. I took some pictures there – they're uploading from another computer as I type this on my laptop >_>. Since I can't access any WIFI around, and my host mother has a computer (should see the huge screen O__o), I decided to type on this one (at least I have a French-Canadian keyboard XD) and upload/update stuff on the other ^^. So yep, pictures-a-coming XD.
After the walk we went to eat ramen at the most famous, and oldest, place around the park... I can't remember the name, but I will remember the ramen XD. God it was good *_*. I'll never be able to eat American ramen after that >_>... not that I ate it very much before. ... And oh well, I might actualyl start eating MORE since I can't find ramen to save my life in Montreal ._.;;;... I WANT REAL, JAPANESE RAMEN!! *cries*.
So after the ramen, we went to this electronics store XD. I love electronics, so it was all good. Akiko needed to buy another blow-dryer since hers broke yesterday. I found a MP3 charger... the problem is that IT DOESN'T FIT MINE. Well it would if only I hadn't had forgotten my USB charger -_-. It's made for the people who don't have access to a computer, but the freaking part I need if the one I left at home -_____-. I'll send an email to Rebecca after so I actually get her to send it so I can have it by next week, on my next homestay.
Then we went back home and I helped Akiko with her English lesson. She's a private teacher, and today's student was a nice lady named Reiko. She doesn't speak much, but she said next time she'd speak more ^^. She's pretty good anyways ^^. As for wy she needs it I dunno XD. Anyways, we talked about some stuff, namely why and how Akiko had to learn English, and we compared it to Japan, America and Canada's situation.
So in Japan, people learn it because well, English is international. Within Japan, they don't need it everyday... and that's why when it comes to SPEAK it, they're afraid they'll appear as fools. But when it comes to writing or understanding it, they have a pretty good level of it. In Canada, it's simple. English is everywhere. Even in Quebec. Even though we have French as our first language, I'm trying to actually remember someone I know that isn't an almost-perfect English speaker – of my generation – and I seriously can't. But if Quebec is bilingual... the rest of Canada surely isn't. Why? Because they're not willing to learn it. English is everywhere, so they use it. If you're a Quebecer and go to the Western part of Canada, you'll speak English. If a Westerner Canadian comes to Quebec, they'll speak English because they can't speak much French (as far as I know, they only learn it in elementary – someone should confirm this for me O_o;;;), because it's not necessary for them – they already speak THE language!
So why did we come to this?
Before she got married, maybe 10 years ago, a friend of Akiko held her own wedding in Los Angeles (O_o;... I think it was LA... or was it Vancouver...). That girl spoke English and Japanese, and translated for her since she didn't speak much English back then, almost none. So before she left for LA, the groom told her that it would be nice if she learned English... then Akiko held her own wedding in Japan, and the guy didn't even bother learning "arigatou" (thank you) or anything Japanese... he always spoke English because it was "international". See the thing? x.x;;;... Then Akiko said that if something along the lines of it ever happened again, she'd tell the other to "fuck off XD".
SO... after the class, we rested a bit. I went upstairs to play some games, and Ai joined me ^^. She's actually pretty good at kanji o_o. She passed the 9th level of my game without any problem while I barely know half ot it XD (yet, I know a ton of other kanji in other levels... I've learned around 400 in classes... too bad I can't remember half of them, since our way to learn 'em kinda sucks in my opinion, compared to the things I bought to learn 'em so far). We ate hamburgers (well the Japanese version of it, which is a meatball with cheese on it, and then some kinda delicious barbeque sauce) and salad. I drank SPARKLING UMESHU!! *droools*. Umeshu is plum liquor, and it's very good. Sparkling umeshu is even better *_____*.
And that's my second day in Ebetsu. Pics are STILL uploading... it's slow, but then again I've chose to upload 20 at over 1MB each... ACK battery is running out, and my drive is taken... *cringe*.

Heh, I'm kinda stressed for tomorrow. I have to leave at 6am from my house and be at the Ueno station at around 7. Shouldn't be too long, but gods, it's early. Then I have 12 hours of Shinkansen ahead of me... [ Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<_<.>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.] Heh, I'm kinda stressed for tomorrow. I have to leave at 6am from my house and be at the Ueno station at around 7. Shouldn't be too long, but gods, it's early. Then I have 12 hours of Shinkansen ahead of me... <_<. THIS is gonna be long, considering my MP3 player is dead and I have no way to recharge it >_<. At least I've got manga XD. I'm done with Death Note 1, halway through DN2 and DN3 is awaiting XD.
Anyways, I can't be on for long and I have to log on GW to say I have no idea when I'm gonna log on >_>. I have NO idea when I,m gonna have net access, so you might not hear from me for a while. That sucks <_<... but I'll deal with it. Manga, anime and emulatros rules XD. I've downloaded some games from when I've got nothing to do and got nowhere to go, probably like when I'll be at the old woman's place. Thankfully Seb isn't far from me except once, where he's at Nara and I'm at Kobe.
To end this, I'll tell about my last experience. Crowded trains XD. Oh gods... it wasn't extremely funny 'cause of the circumstances, but it wasn't TOO bad ^^. The Yamanote-sen (Japan Rail's main Tokyo train line, which is a circle XD) was down in the direction I was going in due to a bad accident, so the station was EXTREMELY crowded. The line for the train was going from ABOVE the stairs to the dock... The train came 30 or 45 minutes later. People were rushing inside, barely letting the others exit. I had to wait for the 2nd train, of which I was pretty much in front, but the people just don't care where they are and rush anyways. So I'm in the train, can't move due to too many people surrounding me, and there's this VERY HOT GUY in front of me... I didn't wanna lean on him or something - well I wanted, he was hot - but I couldn't do otherwise. I giggled until he exited x.x;;;... ... then another hot guy came right beside me and smiled at me when I kept bumping into him x.x;;;...
So yeah, that was my experience with the over-crowdedmass transit. Better than in Montreal, as I would probably have wound up against some ugly or perverted guy. >_<.
And now I'll log off and log on GW.
I hope to be able to connect soon!

Brought to you by Chibi XD.
The days are pretty slow around XD. I'm not doing much actually, pretty much settled around, have my daily life going... too bad it changes soon XD. Well not "bad", since I'll be travelling in Japan ^^. What sucks is that with my uber bad sense of direction, taking trains and such is gonna suck... especially with my ton of luggage >_<. It's not a ton, but it's enough to drive me mad carrying them. My backpack weighs a ton with the laptop, hard drive and other things, while my suitcase is just big... and full of clothes. Not as bad as Seb, who decided to leave most of his stuff and only pack some pants and t-shirts. I COULD do that... I just don't have any space in my backpack >_>.
Oh I went to Asakusa the other day. It's pretty nice... but a lot of shops and I'm dead tired of shopping. I still have to go back to take pictures under a better light and buy some gifts. I still have to upload pictures of my trip XD. There's a nice, old temple at the end and there's a gate called the Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate) which is very good o_o... Aside that, more shops XD. We finally found an alcohol-vending machine which Seb and I really wanted to find. He bought a beer and I took pictures XD. I bought a yukata for myself, only 29 bucks, bought a belt for it at 8 bucks or so. It's really not expensive compared to other places where they sell yukatas... cheapest I could find out of Asakusa (and even at Asakusa) was 80 bucks... O_o;;... but I think those were hand-crafted. I'm not sure about the one I bought. There was one hand-crafted and hand-painted at 250 bucks if I remember well... was pretty *_*...
Yesterday I went on my own at Ikebukuro. First of all I was tired of being inside, since exploring on my own gets boring fast, and I needed to get money REALLY bad (I was down to 3 or 4 bucks >_>). So to find the Metropolitan Plaza... I HAD to take the wrong exit (come on, I do that even in Montreal, just that stations in Montreal aren't THAT big... had to go back inside the station and walk for 10 minutes to get to the right exit... but keep in mind Ikebukuro has 2 depaatos inside... TWO... Seibu, Tobu). Anyways it was a good thing I took the wrong exit, since I saw Gabriel! ^^. He was meeting with some Japanese people he knew from the language exchange and they were meeting there XD. I chatted with him a bit before he went off to find a phone, and I went off at the City Bank. I feared the thing mught have been closed since we were Sunday, but it's just like in Canada; they close the main area, but the ATMs are still available. Withdrew around 300 bucks, then searched for the Starbucks since I wanted a macha frappucinno and something to eat (took a ham and cheese sandwich). This in hand, I went to the park and chilled there maybe half a hour before heading back home. On my way back I bought some chocolate and lemon tea, then I met up with Seb and Shun, talked with them a bit (Seb was accompanying Shun as he went back to Nerima station) and made my way back home. Studied kanjis a bit, then I played FF6 until we had dinner at Hana-chan (Silver Villa Koyama's dining room) with the folks. There were a few guests last night, one was a kabuki (old Japanese theater) actor who invited us to his theather ^^. So I'm going to see kabuki on July 1st, right before leaving XD. Might go to Nikko in late June to see another kabuki play.
Hana-chan dinners are always nice. They have their reg people there; the guy that looks like my paternal grandfather had (HAD, considering my grandfather had a stroke back in November soooooo....) who speaks 3 languages (Japanese, English and German), this guy always translates for us ^^. He thanks us in English or German XD. Another speaks English too, and both were engineers back in their days. There's Iwaki-sama, the 94-old lady who you'd NEVER believe she's 94... I'd have given her maybe 70, 80 MAXIMUM... she doesn't look that old and she's very active. VERY active. She loves to talk and adds English and French words here and there XD. She's fun to listen to. Shiraishi-sama (the guy that brings art books to his mute wife) is there as well... and another one that speaks English but I dunno his name... two women from Apprendre, if not three... we wind up in interesting conversations. Yesterday was about language mostly, and then we started on men and women relationships... The week before was Iwaki-sama talking about lobsters (that was really fun XD. She has a degree, bachelor's if I'm not mistaken, in marine biology >_>...).
So that's pretty much what I've been doing around, aside working. Still get up at 7AM and go back to sleep at 9AM... until maybe noon or something... except that time we BOTH overslept 15 minutes... weirdly enough we weren't killed >_>. Remember that time we got in 3 minutes later and had to wait 35 minutes more to get food? That's why I'm surprised. Anyways, the superiors were laughing and not murdering us... found it weird... but they remained cool and such. Probably 'cause they know it's gonna happen XD;;;.
The people at the Silver villa are actually nice. Of course we serve meals 3/6 days at "Hon" (the "root" building) and we have to "deal" with the weirder people, since the most active ones are at Apprendre and maybe #5... though I'm not sure about 2, 3 and 4 O_o. So we have our regulars there, I guess. I serve meals to about the same people (the guy who takes care of his mute wife, the woman that requests hot water in her Thermos, the one who always sits on a bench outside before I bring her breakfast....) but they're nice. I often get greeted in English and sometimes in French, and they're ALWAYS very happy ^^. While I walk I just seem to hate my job, but then I actually get to help people and I feel good right away... I think they truly appreciate our efforts. There's this one, Hama-sama, ho always wants to go back home ("Kaerou, kaerou!" she says – random fact: she has huge glasses...) and who isn't afraid to fight back when she's told she can. One day another helper got hit rather bad by her, she had the mark on her arm >_>. Today she didn't wanna take her drugs... well she said she already had taken them, but she hadn't >_>. We're guessing she has Alzeihmer's. Another one along the lines is the one Seb got food to her room... she said he wanted to kill him O_o. I saw her twice... and she was saying someone wanted to kill her as well (today, it was a helper; apparently she was hiding in the office).
So... onto what I did today so far and what I'm about to do. I went to the cornerstore to get some food, then realized I had left my wallet home -_-;;. The old lady was nice and said I could pay next time I come, but I went to get my wallet anyways since I have a tendency to forget stuff like that. Then Seb and I went to walk around Toshimaen-eki... we finally found the place, along with the spa, theme park, Toys'R'Us, movie theater... XD. We went to eat at a little park we found on our way to the theme park (which was our original destination) and then went around it to see the different stuff. It's bigger than I thought, to be honest. Not La Ronde, but they have a nice choice of machines. I wanna go but it's expensive... 40 bucks for an adult for a day... yet it's really not far >_>.....
Later on I'm going to go eat around Nerima, probably for tonkatsu or chicken at the bento place. I'll stop by the Tsutaya book-off where I found this 10-buck GBA I MIGHT buy... GBA 'cause I could use it with my GameCube, unlike the DS... that and I wanna buy Survive Style 5+'s OST, because I really love some of the songs that play in it XD. I had paid attention to the music before, but not as much as last time I watched it.
And right now I'm back home, listening to music. Might play FF6 a bit more, or study kanji... this thing is addictive... >_>
